Nestled on a quiet residential street in a neighborhood known for its eclectic mix of traditional homes, this single-family residence sits on the western shore of Lake Washington with commanding views of Mount Rainier to the southeast. The clients envisioned a home that would blend with the character of the neighborhood and have a modern floor plan to complement their family’s lifestyle.

The home is designed to step down the steeply sloped lot. The lower level has a walk out basement, terraced garden spaces and axial staircases to reach the water’s edge.

A custom mix of bleach with stain shingle siding and a Montana Ledgestone base create a timeless exterior palette of materials. Traditional detailing continues throughout the interior. The main stair, wainscoting, and double arches in the entry foyer evoke the craftsmanship of 19th-century Colonial homes. The kitchen and living room open to the east, with large windows and French doors to flood the space with natural light and frame panoramic views of the lake.
